In my last post I shared the Valentines I made for my girl friends. I also made a little something for one of my guy friends. My mom had this box that she made in the past, but never did anything with it. I took that box and I bought Dum-Dums (you know the lollipops). I wrapped the Dum-Dums in red tissue paper and put them in the box. Then, I made a tag and (with my semi-crappy handwriting) wrote, "Only a Dum-Dum wouldn't want you as a Valentine." For the "Dum-Dum" part, I cut out a piece of the wrapper that said Dum-Dums and stuck it to the tag & then I crossed out the S with a pen. Then, I tied a white ribbon around it. I haven't been able to give it to him yet, but I know he'll like it (or at least he better).

I Am Fortunate to Have You
Happy Belated Valentines Day! This year for VD I decorated these take out boxes from Origami Owl & made fortune cookies out of felt. I made 3 for my friends Crysalyn, Danielle & Favi. For the boxes, I covered each of them with love related paper. Then, I put a ribbon around it and tied it in the front. Finally, I added random red, pink, white & yellow ribbons around the handle. For the fortune cookies, I followed the link below.

My friends loved them! I loved making these and I'm glad my friends love them as much as I do.

Gift from Valentine's Past
Even though I'm not really a fan of Valentine's Day, I still love making (and even getting) gifts. I had so many different ideas of what to make my friends this year. Last year we had a Secret Valentine between my group of friends. Originally everyone was suppose to have someone from the opposite sex; however, there were more girls than guys so one girl had a girl. The name I chose was my friend Michael, which was nice but I didn't know him that well then. So I asked his GF (at the time) who I was also friends with what kind of things did he like. Once I got a general idea I decided what to make him. I have seen in a magazine (the name escapes me now) a small mailbox and it has Valentine goodies coming out of it. I loved the idea so much, so I decided to do that. First, I bought a mailbox from Michael's. It was lavender so I painted it a dark purple (his favorite color). Next, I embossed his name on one side and for you on the flag thing (obviously I don't know what its actually called). Then, I glued two music notes on the ends of his name since he was in band in high school & he loves music. Next, I found old Scrabble letters and found his initials, MDL, and glued them to the front of the mailbox. Once I was finished with the mailbox, I had to find something to fill it with. I made chocolate cake balls and envelope shaped cookies. For the cookies I covered them with with frosting and used red icing to make them look like envelopes. I was so excited about my gift yet nervous if he was even going to like it. When the day came to reveal your Secret Valentine, I was genuinely surprised when he told me he loved it and it out-shined everyone's. He actually still has it a year later, at least that's what he told me. Anyways I just wanted to share that just because that was my first V-Day where I actually made something for someone. Now I can't stop, I want to make stuff every year even when I don't have a Valentine.

Crush of the Month
Surprisingly this month's crush was a lot easier to decide than the past months. So this month's Crush of the Month goes to...
Andy Samberg. I started watching Portlandia earlier this month & one episode titled, "Mixology", featured Andy as a bartender. Ever since that episode I've started liking him. Well I always liked him especially his songs from SNL & his band The Lonely Island. Plus I liked him I Love You, Man as well.

Guilty Pleasure: Typewriters
I have never used or even seen an actual typewriter before. And why would I when I'm from the generation where we use computers instead. Even though I have never used one, I am still in love with typewriters. One day I hope to have one even if it's just for decoration.

Friday Favorites
Here's this weeks Friday Favorites:
Awolnation's album Megalithic Symphony. My favorite songs are "Sail," "Wake Up," & "Kill Your Heroes."

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is one of my favorite TV shows. One summer I watched it so much that I started to talk like him.

OMG the little girl in me is freaking out!

I love everything about this work space, but the Polaroid pictures behind the computer has to be my favorite thing.
Little Miss Sunshine, one of my favorite movies. I love movies/TV shows centered around dysfunctional families.
Hipster Dog. Awesome. I wish Gracie would stay still for me to take a picture like that.
I love this outfit mostly because of the anchors. The shorts are a little too short for me, however. I really, really like the sweater and the necklace.

I Dreamed a Dream
Yesterday I went to go watch Les Miserables for the first time. It was amazing! Everyone in the movie did a great job, but it was Anne Hathaway who amazed me the most. I never knew she was that talented. Her performance of "I Dreamed a Dream" was...I can't even explain. Just thinking about that scene makes me choke up. The second half of the song (from 2:39 and on) really got to me. If you haven't seen the movie or heard her sing this song, I suggest you go watch it/listen to the song below.
What did I tell you? Incredible, right? The best scene in the whole movie in my opinion. Anne Hathaway better receive an Oscar for her performance or I will be extremely disappointed.
