Life Lately [June/July]

Hello blog world I have been away for awhile now, but I'm back! Here's what I've been up to lately. :)

Early June Vern, Danielle, McKenna, Caleb, Rickey, James, Berto & Veronica went to Santa Cruz. We weren't there very long, but we had fun in the sun.

Danielle, Vern and me.

This is Gracie's 3rd BarkBox and she couldn't wait to open it! She got banana chips, bones, jerky & a crab toy. She loved everything!

\My parents and I went to see Kool & The Gang at the fair in Turlock. They were awesome!

This is me at the fair [the same day as the Kool & The Gang concert]. The dress is from Modcloth.

Day 2 at the fair. My friend Samantha and I went to see Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. This is me waiting for them to perform.

Here's my friend Samantha and me in our new Joan Jett shirts.

Vern, Danielle & I went to Santa Cruz to watch Beetlejuice on the beach. The movie started at 9 pm, but we got there in the morning. We bought wristbands for unlimited rides and we ate clam chowder in a bread bowl for dinner.

This picture was taken right before we left. We asked an employee if he could take the picture for us.

My brother Derek bought season tickets for the 49ers new stadium. Since he was a ticket holder, he got 4 tickets to tour the new stadium before anyone else. Unfortunately he couldn't go because he was in Alaska, but Kevin, his girlfriend Krystal & I went instead.

In front of Levi's Stadium.

Here's a panoramic view of the stadium.

Dog Gone Cute-Gracie's 4th Birthday

Today [June 26th] is my dog Gracie's birthday! She turned four years old, which is crazy because I feel like it was just yesterday when I got her. To celebrate her big day, I made her cupcakes and gave her a new toy. Here are some pictures of her amazing day.

I got this idea on Pinterest and decided to make a similar one.
My name is... Gracie!
Today I am: 4 yrs old!
I like: Playing with the hose, sleeping, eating people food, SF Giants-Go Panda!, my owners!

This is the new toy I bought her. She played with it for 5 seconds and then walked away.

These are the cupcakes that I made.

I also made cake toppers except for the birthday hat, that was already made.

Waiting to eat her cupcakes...

...attacking her cupcakes...

...licking her cupcakes off her face.

Hooray for Gracie!
Happy Birthday G!
I hope you had a fun birthday!

Feels Like Summer!

Today is the first official day of my summer vacation! Thursday was the last day of school, but I did have to work on Friday [and weekends don't count]. On Thursday, the After School Program had a last day of school party which included:

  • BBQ
  • Talent Show
  • Parent Volunteers Appreciation
  • Water Play

During the water play, they had water sticks to shoot others with, at one point I was their main target. I was nearby making sure they had enough water left when one boy "accidentally" got me. I told him I wasn't even upset because it actually felt good. So another boy decided to yell, "Let's all aim for Miss Carly!" So I had about 5 boys shooting me with water. At that point I had to yell for them to stop, which they did [eventually]. I didn't go near the water area the rest of the day.

I made these for the 5th graders at the After School Program.
Reese's Cups
Chalkboard Paper w/ their names written in chalk
White String
Brads
The kids really loved them and hugged me [even the boys who never hug anyone].
My Last Day of School outfit.
Dress: Kohl's
Nails: Avon
Headband: Wet Seal
There was one more kid left to be picked up, so I enjoyed some leftover Capri-Sun while I waited. His dad was 10 minutes late.

I'm so excited to get a break from work and to spend that money I earned!

This weekend was the Apricot Fiesta [my town's annual downtown party] and I went on Saturday and Sunday with my friends and parents.

My Sunday outfit:
Dress: Modcloth
Lemonade & Kettle Corn

Today, I'm going to watch Maleficent with some of my friends and do some shopping.
I can't wait for future plans this summer. I know I'll have tons of fun!

Life Lately [April/May]

Hello again! I haven't posted anything in a couple months, so I'm due for another. So here's what I've been up to lately.

This was actually taken March 31st, but oh well. The After School Program had a field trip to John's Incredible Pizza on March 31st & April 1st. Kinder through 2nd went on the 31st and 3rd through 5th went on the 1st. I went both days, but I only have pictures from the 31st. This was my "bus buddy" we took a couple of these photobooth pictures.

I bought Gracie this SF Giants jersey. She actually didn't fuss when I put it on her, so I guess she liked it. She normally hates wearing clothes.

This is Mae. She used to be my neighbor before we moved. I haven't seen her since I was about 7 years old. She had her 90th birthday and my mom and I went.

At Mae's birthday party, there was an Elvis impersonator. She's a huge Elvis fan [like me]. He sang a few songs including "Happy Birthday".

This is Gracie after I gave her a bath. I thought she looked super adorable when she was done with her bath.

I made these bunny ears for Gracie just moments before taking this picture. All I used was black felt for the base, white cardstock for the ears, colored the pink and used string to tie it.

I met Drake Bell! Or should I say my mom and I met Drake Bell! I saw him post on Facebook that he was going to be at F.Y.E. in Modesto. You had to buy his new CD in order to see him perform and meet him. So my mom and I went, I bought the CD and we waited in line. He sang some songs and then we got in line to meet him. The whole time my mom and I were being dorky like we were going to faint when we meet him and etc. The closer we got to him the joking stopped. We really were nervous to meet him and didn't even know what to say. We finally got to meet him and he was so nice. He complimented me on my shirt and he touched it! He touched my shirt! I don't remember what I said or if I even said anything. We took some pictures & he had his buddy take pictures with his own camera! Then before we left I asked him to take a selfie [a word a really hate]. So he also touched my phone!

Gracie and me pouting on the floor.

Mom & I were walking Gracie one day and we stopped at Baskin Robbins for some ice cream. Mom waited outside while I got the ice cream. I shared some of my ice cream with Gracie.

May 3rd was Free Comic Book Day, so my friend Favi, her sister Jenny and I went to Modesto to get out free comic book. I got a Marvel comic book & I bought a Kids Next Door one.

This guy was standing outside the comic book store dressed as Sonic the Hedgehog. I decided to take a picture with him.

My brothers had a baseball game one Sunday. It was an away game and we decide to take Gracie with us. As you can tell she was very excited about it.

My mom and I went to a scrapbooking retreat on Mother's Day weekend. We went with some of our scrapbooking friends and a few other people we've never met before. They were friends of a friend. One morning, my mom and walked around and my mom took some pictures of me. Here's one with me in a field of flowers.

I bought this package called Barkbox. It's a monthly gift of dog supplies. It could be snacks, toys, shampoos, etc. Gracie got her first box in May and she'll get one every month until December.

I bought this Polaroid from Amazon. It's a digital camera, but you can print pictures straight from the camera. I haven't printed anything yet, but I can't wait until I do!

Life Lately [Feb/March]

A couple weeks ago one of the elementary schools I work at had dress up days. On Wednesday it was dress up like your favorite character day. So I decided to dress up like Harry Potter. The kids loved it especially my wand!

This is the wand that I made. It was originally just a plain chopstick[that's right a chopstick]. I hot glued beads to it and painted it brown.

I pre-ordered Catching Fire and I got it the day before it was released. I felt so special!

I had this necklace custom made from Etsy. I love Happy Days and Richie Cunningham is my favorite character. I wore this to work and the kids thought he was my boyfriend.

Last weekend was the Scrapbooking Expo and I spent more money than I was expecting. I spent $120 and I mostly bought paper [which I don't need any more of]. It was fun though and I do love all the stuff I bought. I can't wait to use them!

So I finally watched Frozen this weekend [I actually watched it twice in one day] and this song has been stuck in my head ever since. I love this movie and Do You Want to Build a Snowman? is my favorite song from it. The whole soundtrack is catchy, but this song is the best.

Feeling Nostalgic

The things that you loved as a kid always have a special place in your heart.

A few days ago I noticed that the first 3 seasons of The Powerpuff Girls were on Netflix, so I decided to watch them. As soon as the theme song played, I started to feel like a little kid again. This had me thinking about other things I loved as a kid and how I wanted to write a post about them. These are shows/movies/people etc that remind me of my childhood/early teen years.

TV Shows:

When it was on air, Friends was my favorite show. My favorite character was Chandler. This was the first "adult" show I remember watching. Of course back then I didn't understand a lot of the jokes. Today, I consider this as one of my favorite TV shows and still watch the reruns [even if I've seen it a million times].

When I was a little kid, Rugrats was my favorite show. I remember having Rugrats tshirts and toys. I loved Tommy because of how brave and cool he was. This was one of those shows where I loved every character [even the mean Angelica].

Sugar, spice and everything nice. Okay, I'll admit it I secretly wanted to be a Powerpuff Girl. I wanted Bubbles outfit [since blue was my favorite color], Blossom's leadership, Buttercup's badassness and of course their superpowers. Okay I still want those things, but who wouldn't? I remember the super awesome PPG backpack I used to have in elementary school. I also had a video game, a tshirt or sweater, and toys. I wish I still had them.

You guys I seriously wanted to be Hilary Duff, like seriously, and it all started with this show. I was about 11 when this show came out and I remember falling in love with it the moment I watched it. I remember wanting a cool guy friend like Gordo and I remember having a crush on her brother Matt. I also remember wishing a guy as cute as Ethan Craft going to my school. Yeah I was that lame. Anyways, I used to have a crap load of Lizzie stuff. Books, posters, stickers, anything with her face on it I wanted.

Definitely one of the weirder shows I used to love or still love. Invader Zim was so dark, strange and creepy that it was insanely awesome! It wasn't your typical kids show, but that's what made it so great. My favorite character was Gir. I had multiple tshirts and bags that I also wish I still had.

Move over, Lizzie there's a new girl in town and her name is Raven Baxter. I loved her so much! Once this show came out there was no one else I wanted to be. She had an amazing sense of style, awesome friends and psychic abilities! Yeah she had an annoying little brother and incredibly dorky parents, but I still wanted to be just like her.

First of all, I thought Maddie was really cool. Second of all, I may or may not had a crush on Zack. Thirdly, I used to wish that I lived in a hotel just like them. I remember I used to have posters of the boys and of Ashley Tisdale on my bedroom walls.

Since The Amanda Show I've loved Drake and Josh, so when they had their own show I was really excited about it. I remember watching it for the first time like it was yesterday. I also had both of Drake's CDs and multiple posters of him on my wall.

Music:

When I was little you either were a Backstreet Boys fan or a Nsync fan. I was a Nsync fan. My cousin was a Backstreet Boys fan and I remember we used to get into fights about who was better. Today I still have gotten into arguments about which boy band was better. Backstreet Boys may have had a longer career, but Nsync had Justin Timberlake soooo...there!
Favorite Song(s): "Dirty Pop", "Bye Bye Bye"

I used to listen to this CD all the time! Nowadays I don't really listen to Britney anymore, but I still love those old songs. I even remember most of the words to a few songs.
Favorite Song(s): "Lucky", "Stronger", "Dear Diary"

I was in love with Gym Class Heroes in middle school. I heard about them a year before they became really famous. I was singing "Cupid's Chokehold" way before my classmates did. I had [or have actually] 3 CDs and a tote bag. I had their lyrics written on my backpack and my binders.
Favorite Song(s): "Clothes Off", "Shoot Down the Stars", "On My Own Time"

Okay I may have been a little obsessed with Never Shout Never. I also had a crush on him [Christopher Drew Ingle]. I sadly don't listen to NSN anymore with the exception of a few songs. I have a couple tshirts and I believe that's all.
Favorite Song(s): "bigcitydreams" "Can't Stand It", "Trouble"

Speaking of obsession, there was no other music group I was obsessed with quite like the Jonas Brothers [just ask my parents or my friends from high school]. It started my sophomore year, I think, when I first heard their song "SOS" and the rest is history. Let's see I had multiple posters, 2 shirts, a tote bag, 3 CDs, pins, pencils, pens, a book and a keychain. I will admit I still listen to their songs every once in awhile and I still know the words. I also watched all their YouTube videos several times and quoted from them.
Favorite Song(s): "Inseparable", "Burnin' Up", "Hello Beautiful"

I wasn't as in love with them as these other people, but I still listened to them a lot when I was about 12/13. I had a crush on their lead singer. One of my old friends and I would talk about him on the phone for hours. I only had one CD and I didn't have any kind of merchandise, but they were still a big part of my childhood.
Favorite Song(s): "Promise", "Everytime"

Crushes:

Matthew Perry aka Chandler Bing aka my first TV crush. I only had one previous celebrity crush before Chandler, but I never had a crush on a TV character. Chandler was awkward, funny and awesome. 9 year old me couldn't help but love him [I'm not 100% positive that I was 9 but I was around that age].

Alright don't make fun of me because I'm a little embarrassed about this one. My first celebrity crush was on Aaron Carter. I didn't care for his music, but I thought he was cute. I was in the 3rd grade when I first liked him, but I got over it before 5th grade.

My crush on Jimmy Fallon started when I watched Fever Pitch. I still like him, but not in the same way as I used to. By the way that would be one of the greatest things a guy could ask me except with Giants tickets.

So I already mentioned that I was obsessed with the Jonas Brothers. Well the cute, funny one was my favorite aka Joe Jonas. I had developed a crush on Nick as well, but I loved Joe from the very start.

This crush started I think in 7th grade. I used to have several magazine clippings all over my binders, posters on my walls and I still have 3 of his CDs. I even wrote a fictional story about me meeting him for an assignment in 8th grade & I still have it.

I actually still have a crush on Zac Efron because he keeps getting better looking every time I see him. However, my crush on him started when I was about 14. I saw him in one of those teen magazines before High School Musical came out and I instantly thought he was cute. Then I saw previews for HSM and couldn't wait to see it since he was in it. During high school I mainly had Jonas Brothers and Zac Efron posters in my room. Today I still have a couple Zac posters up.

Role Models:

I already mentioned that I wanted to be her when I was younger. I remember me & my friends would sing her songs during recess. I had a lot of Stuff by Duff [her clothing line] like backpacks, jewelry, etc.

I mentioned her as well, but I still need to include her. I remember buy the That's So Raven CD because I wanted to listen to her songs over & over again. When I was younger I wanted to be an actress just because she was.

I thought Demi Lovato was cool because she wasn't like any other singer from Disney. She was edgier than the bubblegum pop Disney usually offers. The first time I saw her was on the short-lived Disney show As the Bell Rings. The show wasn't the best, but I when I heard Demi sing her song "Shadow", I instantly loved her and her voice. Once the show was cancelled, she appeared on Camp Rock and her debut CD came out. I have her first 2 CDs, but I don't really listen to her recent music. Not there's anything wrong with her newer songs. I just like her older songs better.

Movies/Books:

Men in Black was my favorite movie when I was little. I even had a MIB wallet that came from a box of cereal. I think this was the first "real" movie I saw, which might be why I loved it so much.

So I still love Harry Potter, but it started when I was 8 so it's a huge part of my childhood. I chose The Chamber of Secrets for the picture because I remember in 4th grade me & my friend Samantha would act out the duel scene between Harry and Draco during recess. We would also fight over who got to be Harry.

This was my favorite series when I was little. I wanted to be a detective so I really loved these books. The Case of the Secret Valentine was one of my favorites and I still have it!

This was my favorite book for a really long time. I first read it when I was in 4th grade and it was favorite book until middle school.

This was my favorite book after Maniac Magee. I don't remember the first time I read it or why, but I'm just glad that I did. It might not be my favorite book anymore, but I still love it! I was so excited when I found that there was going to be a Flipped movie. The movie wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but I still really enjoyed it.

Well there you go. There's obviously way more stuff I loved when I was younger, but these were the things I thought made a bigger impact on my life. It's strange to think how my taste in music, movies, etc. have changed throughout the years. Maybe some day I'll post about my favorite stuff currently. Someday...
