Furry & Fabulous: Gracie's 3rd Birthday

Today is my dog Gracie's birthday! She is 3 years old! It feels like yesterday when I first got her for my 17th birthday. My brother Kevin's girlfriend at the time gave me Gracie. During my party there was a knock on the door, but when I went to answer it there was no one there except for a bag. In the bag was a puppy and the tag said it was from Elvis [I had an Elvis Presley themed party that year]. At first I knew my dad was going to say that I couldn't keep her, which he did at first. My mom had to convince him to let me keep her. It took a few days to figure out what to name her. At first Kevin and I chose Lucy, but Dad's grandma's name was Lucy so that was a no. Then while we were watching a Giants game, Derek suggested Posey [after Buster Posey], but she didn't look like a Posey to me. My mom thought a name that associated with Elvis would be a cool idea and I agreed, but I couldn't think of what. I thought Presley, but that seemed more like a boy's name. I can't remember but I'm pretty sure my mom came up with Graceland. We decided to call her Gracie for short. As for her middle name, Lou, it came from the movie Miss Congeniality. You know Gracie Lou Freebush? Anyways that's how she got her name: Graceland "Gracie" Lou Durham.

I covered her dog treats in red candy melt. I made her some this past Christmas and she loved them.

I made her a crown this morning. She absolutely hated it! She doesn't like wearing things. She also tried to eat it when I first put it on her.

Just some random pictures of her. The bottom two photos she's wearing this fairy princess dress that one of my stuffed animals was wearing. I couldn't get a better picture with it on her.

She's licking the candy melt off her face.

Me and the birthday girl!

Gracie wearing her crown. I had to hold up some bread so she would stay still for a picture.

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! This week went a little slow for me. On Wednesday I went to Favi's house and hung out with her and Samantha. I haven't seen Samantha in a few months so it was nice to see her. Other than that I didn't do anything special. Hopefully this weekend will be an eventful one.

I'm in love with this iphone case. Fantastic Mr. Fox is a great movie and this case is  awesome!

This has to be my favorite thing said from any TV show. I seriously couldn't stop laughing when I saw this episode.

I Love Jesse Eisenberg!

Okay, so I've seen some posts about one of the Peter Pans that work at Disneyland and he is adorable. I found out he no longer works at Disneyland and he just got married to the girl who worked as Alice.

Another shirt at redbubble.com and it's a crossover of The Office and Adventure Time. Awesome!

It ain't easy being green.

If you've never watched The Fairly Oddparents, then this won't make sense to you. I love this so much! Whenever something bad happens always blame Dinkleberg.

Actually Jack it technically is the Will and Grace show, but you definitely steal the show.

The Catcher in the Rye

Book #1: The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

So this is the first book I'm reading for the annual summer reading marathon. This will be my third time reading this book and I got to say that I love this book more the third time. When I read it in HS, I didn't really get it at first until I looked up the symbols and then I fell in love with the book. The second time I read it, I understood it a lot better and loved it even more. Now reading it for the third time, I completely understand where Holden is coming from. There were little things I didn't pick up on the first two times I read it. Even though I haven't experienced most of the things Holden has, I feel like I really relate to him and his way of thinking. It's funny how I related more to this book now then I ever did before.

Summer Reading Marathon

Every year for as long as I can remember, my mom & I have an annual summer reading marathon. The winner usually gets ice cream from Baskin Robbins, paid by the loser. We haven't done that the past couple years, mostly because I started lagging on the contest. I actually had a life the past couple summers. Well now that I don't have much of one this summer, I am back in the game and I am determined to win this year! So far  my mom is beating me, she's already finished a book. We went to the library on Saturday and I got the following books.

1. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
I read this book my sophomore year of HS and I loved it. Since then I've only read it once, and I know reading it a third time will be just as good.
2. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I also read this in HS but my junior year. I've seen the movie, but I never read the book. I loved the movie so I knew I was going to love the book; I was right. I haven't read it since then and I can't remember most of it, but I know I'll love it just as much as when I read it the first time.
3. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith
Okay so first of all I love Abraham Lincoln! Secondly, I've seen the movie and I loved it, so I'm really excited about reading the book. I've read another book by Grahame-Smith, Unholy Night, the story of the Three Wise Men who were really thieves on the run. It was good and I highly recommend it.
4. Bossypants by Tina Fey
Who wouldn't want to read about Tina Fey's life? I love Tina Fey; she's hilarious! I'm actually really excited about reading this one!

Dad

"With him, life was routine; without him, life would be unbearable."-To Kill a Mockingbird

My dad was the one who taught me how to tie my shoes.
The one who taught me just about everything in baseball.
We are both stubborn.
We both have a small gap between our front teeth.
I've been told that we even have the same wave.
We don't always see eye-to-eye,
but I love him nonetheless.

Happy Father's Day Dad!

Friday Favorites

Another week has gone by so fast. I had a pretty good week and I'm looking forward to the weekend. On Monday I hung out with Vern and Alexis and we played Guesstures, [which is a charades game] which was a lot of fun. Tuesday I hung out with Favi and we watched The Adventures of Tin Tin and Oz: The Great and Powerful. Both movies were really good, but I liked Tin Tin more. On Wednesday Crysalyn and I went to go watch Now You See Me. I liked it, it was different. Jesse Eisenberg was really cute in this movie [I think we may have June's Crush of the Month]. Yesterday and today are stay at home/lazy days, which I like. So far I have no plans for this weekend. I don't think we're doing anything special for Father's Day, but who knows. I kind of want to watch This is the End on Sunday, but I don't see that happening.

Jennifer Lawrence always has the most entertaining things to say.

Cory, I ask myself the same thing all the time. Haha.
I love this quote even though I've been known to hold grudges.

I love this shirt from redbubble.com They have a lot of cool stuff.

This is awesome! I love The Catcher in the Rye, it's my favorite book.

I love their dances especially the middle potato

someecards.com always has the funniest ecards.

So true. I love people who love to eat as much as I do.

Crush of the Month

Okay I know I say this every month, but May was actually a really hard one. I had so many choices and I narrowed it down to two. Even then it seemed impossible to pick one, but I managed to do it. So behold [people should say behold more often] your new Crush of the Month is...

Chris Messina from The Mindy Project! Okay I thought he was cute since the first episode, but he's been getting cuter and cuter especially these last few episodes. His character, Danny Castellano, is my favorite character on the show. I'm not quite sure what it is, but I just love him. I can't wait for season 2 to start so I can drool over him some more.

California Dreamin'/Summer

It's June! It's summer! I can't wait to watch summer movies, go to the beach, go swimming and all the summer stuff! One of my favorite things about summer is the music you listen to tends to be more upbeat & fun. Here are some songs I've been listening to this summer.

Whatta Weekend...

This weekend was a great one! I actually was busy every day well except for Friday. On Saturday I went to my Grandma's with my mom, my brother Kevin and my cousin Robert. It was 109 degrees so we went swimming for a hour or so. We got there around 11 and we left around 7. On Sunday my mom and I went to my aunt's house and we went through a whole bunch of crafting stuff. Then in the evening I went to Vern's house with Alexis and we played some games and watched a little bit of the Tony's.

Top Left: The weather in Clovis, one of my favorite mugs at Grandma's and Kevin and Robert swimming.

Top Right: We went to see Grandpa's gravestone, but it hasn't been put in yet. We think he had a secret admirer because we don't know who left those flowers.

Bottom Left: Dad got me a shirt from his bowling club at the high school. I haven't worn it yet so I decided to wear it on Friday. It was a lot more comfortable than I expected.

Bottom Right: My letters while Vern, Alexis and I were playing Scrabble. [BTW: I won!!]

Friday Favorites

Another week has gone by and I can't believe it's already June 7th. This weekend my cousin Robert is coming over and I'm excited. It's always more fun with him around because he's so hilarious. On Saturday we're going to visit my grandma. It's supposed to be like 108 degrees over here, so leaving for the weekend is a smart idea. My grandma has a pool and a working AC [unlike here]. Then on Sunday we're going to my aunt's house. Also on Monday Crysalyn and I are gonna go to the movies. I don't know what we're going to watch, but I'm going convince her to watch Now You See Me. I love Jesse Eisenberg so I really wanna see it. There's going to be a lot of things going on this weekend and I'm pretty happy about that.

I love this because it's true. California really knows how to party.

I feel like I might have done this occasionally.

This is definitely me except with dogs. I like most dogs more than most people.

I love this hat! I'm normally not a hat person, but I can see myself wearing this one.

This is how I feel sometimes especially on those days when I don't feel like getting out of bed.

I love everything about this. The font, the colors, the quote...everything.

Because wearing a tie around your neck is too mainstream.

This reminds me of Vern. This is our song. We used to play this every time we'd play Guitar Hero.

Fiesta!

This past weekend was the Apricot Fiesta. Patterson has the fiesta every year the first weekend in June [Friday-Sunday]. On Friday they have the Little Miss/Mister pageant and Miss Patterson pageant. I hardly ever watch the pageants. The only year I really watched it was when my friend Samantha was a contestant in the Miss Patterson pageant. This year I didn't even bothering going at all. On Saturday they have a lot of booths with a nice variety of items. I usually don't buy anything and this year wasn't any different. Then on Saturday night there's fireworks, which is the best part of the fiesta [in my opinion]. Sunday the booths are still there and so is the food and such, but it closes early. I went on Saturday and Sunday, but not very long.

The top left photo is my outfit I wore on Saturday. My face is cropped off because I didn't like my face in this photo. My mom took a million photos of me and all of them were terrible. Either it was blurry or I wasn't even ready [she's a bad photographer].

The top right photo is during the firework show on Saturday night.

The bottom left photo is a picture of the firework finale. This year's finale was really awesome.

The bottom right photo is a picture of my brothers and a couple of their teammates during their game Sunday morning. My brother Derek is #24 and Kevin is #42 [he's the guy on the far left where the pole is. The pole got in the way.]
